I've ridden shoes from another brand for 15+ years and when my latest pair started dying their typical seam-exploding death, I did some exploring to see if maybe there wasn't another option I should be trying... I got my hands on a pair of White and Tan Hellion shoes and right out of the box, I knew I had made a good choice. The white upper looks amazing, and has been cool in all the right ways during the peak of the summer heat. And the toe box is roomy and comfortable in ways that make a real difference when pedaling and coaching for long days. But the part that surprised me was how connected and solid the sole felt. Like it was rivoted to my pedals. I'm a huge fan!
Love these shoes, thanks for making a stylish shoe with plenty of room for wider feet.
Replaced my 5-10s with these. I won’t be going back. Solid, well-made and good grip. Shame there aren’t more colour options.
The fit of these is nice. Stiff sole like I wanted. Lacing is a little tough to dial in but not too bad. Wish the rubber was a bit stickier, but again not bad.
Needing new shoes, I of course returned to Ride Concepts… but the new model of Hellions scared me off with that price tag. I liked my old ones and have progressed with RC’s model updates, conveniently. I’m glad I went with the new model. Everything just seems sturdier than before. They’ve seen some use and abuse from long gravel rides to techy XC rides, and haven’t shown any wear despite taking hits and bumps along the way.
My only qualm is I’m beginning to feel like the sole is TOO stiff. Might switch to a more flexible sole next time… but my thoughts may change and I’d be happy buying the same pair again.
